What is the GAIN Volunteer Portal?
The GAIN Volunteer Portal is your personalised hub for getting involved. It lets you view upcoming opportunities, update your volunteering preferences, and track the roles you’ve taken on. You’ll also earn digital badges – Ally, Advocate, and Champion – to recognise your contributions and share with your online community.

GAIN x Durham Women in Business Speaker
Durham Women in Business are launching a ‘Women in’ speaker series and are looking to hold a ‘Women in Investment Management’ event with GAIN. It would involve an introductory talk by the speakers on their career, followed by a Q&A session and then informal networking with attendees. It would be great to have both a speaker who is at the start of their career and one who has had lots of experience in investment management. Ideally, the event would be in person but we are also open to a virtual event if this isn’t possible.

Seeking senior speakers for the LSE SU Alternative Investments Conference (AIC), the world’s largest student-led conference focused on Private Equity, Hedge Funds, and Venture Capital. Ideal speaker profiles include Partners, Managing Directors, CIOs, and senior investment professionals with substantial experience in alternative investments. Speakers will have the opportunity to share insights on investment strategy, career development, and market outlook with a highly selective global student audience. 1 hour time commitment – volunteer to confirm hours available within two day conference. +2 hours added to your volunteering record with GAIN

There’s no single way to make an impact. Our volunteers support GAIN in all sorts of ways — whether it’s five minutes of your time or a few hours each month. Here are just a few examples:

Deliver a school talk

Judge student work submitted during our challenges
Help assess stock pitches and projects during our school or university investment challenges, and provide feedback that helps participants grow.

We welcome volunteers from all corners of the investment world – from analysts and portfolio managers to HR professionals and senior leaders.

No! We are always looking for new volunteers to help drive GAIN’s mission and would love to hear from you. We couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful network of volunteers.
With the exception of school talks which always require a female volunteer, men are welcome to volunteer at our events. If female-only volunteers are required, this will be specified on the event post.
In this scenario, we will always prioritise volunteers from our sponsor firms. After this, we choose based on those who most closely match the volunteer request.
Absolutely! Feel free to share the latest volunteer newsletter with them or direct them to the page to fill out our Volunteer Registration form.
We welcome volunteers at all stages in their investment career – from those in their first role in the industry through to CIOs and CEOs. We’re also keen to work with volunteers across all areas of the industry, from investment decision making to HR, Marketing, and everything in between.
For school talks, we’ll provide you with a GAIN slide deck to use on the day. For university and programme events, these are usually more specific, and we’ll provide any necessary materials ahead of time.
Yes! We hold quarterly networking drinks to facilitate meetups between volunteers and the GAIN team. Keep an eye on our newsletter and events page to find out when the next event will be and register your place.
No. We have volunteering opportunities all over the country. If you’re based in Scotland or the North of England, join our dedicated LinkedIn groups to stay in the loop about what’s happening in your region.
Yes, a lot of our volunteering opportunities take place virtually. Details on whether an event is in person or online will be included on the event post.
